In this workshop, the state of the art of numerical modeling of radiation heat transfer in different energy conversion systems will be reviewed. The challenges of numerical modeling of radiative heat transfer, characteristics of different available models, and pros and cons of several models will be described and addressed. The focus will be on introducing the available numerical codes/tools and how to implement them in various CFD applications. We go through different numerical models available for solving the radiative transfer equation including P1, DO, Zone method, and ray tracing approaches. We will also review and compare different models of spectral radiative properties such as line by line (LBL), narrow band, k-distribution, full-spectrum correlated-k method (FSCKM) and weighted sum of gray gases method (WSGG). The workshop will be completed by reviewing some of the recently published related research works.
